This time around...

we've waited to spread our happy news to the general populace.  But after 2 pretty amazing ultrasounds (one at 10 weeks, 3 days and the next at 11 weeks, 3days) and some very optimistic results from the first trimester pre-screening test, I'm ready to tell the world.  Well, actually, my belly has already been telling the world - whether simply because I've gained some stomach fat over the last several months or because I've actually got a baby bump, it's hard to say.  My pants have certainly become a bit uncomfortable around the waist.

Anyway...  We're going to have a baby (sometime in April)!  Holy Cow!

The name of this blog actually comes from the first ultrasound we had.  The baby was sleeping when we started, but woke up at some point and started squirming around - and it looks like an alien, doing a jig.  It looked a little more like a baby during the second ultrasound, but still a bit alien-like.  It actually waved at us!  Wow.

I think Jeff and I are still not quite sure this is real.  We've been holding out for good news on the pre-screening and, as I mentioned before, keeping it a little quiet (just telling family at this point).  But the truth is, we have 6 months to get ready for Alien to join us and bring some upheaval into our already crazy new life here in western Mass.

So, this time around we didn't use the Sarah Palin baby name generator - that was for Pie Gallon.  I guess we'll just refer to the little alien as "Alien" or "Junior".  I think we're probably going to ask what the gender is, mainly because we have some differences in opinion about the last name.  One definite decision is that there will be absolutely no hyphens.  So, one of us will have to "win" with the last name - or maybe we'll just go for Smith or something.
